Dubbo Model Show 2026 – Hexforge Industries' First Public Event

This past weekend marked a major milestone for Hexforge Industries as we attended our very first public event at the Dubbo Model Show, held at the Dubbo Showgrounds. Across both Saturday and Sunday, we had the opportunity to introduce Hexforge to the local modelling and tabletop gaming community, showcase some of our work, and speak with hundreds of passionate hobbyists.

To say the event was busy would be an understatement. From the moment the doors opened, there was a constant flow of visitors exploring the displays, chatting with exhibitors, and admiring the incredible workmanship on display throughout the show. It was an exciting weekend and a fantastic introduction to the local hobby community.

Sharing the Booth with Total Tabletop

A huge thank you goes to the team at Total Tabletop for inviting Hexforge Industries to share their booth throughout the weekend. It provided an excellent opportunity to introduce our business while supporting a fantastic local hobby retailer.

Having an established community presence alongside us made it much easier to meet people, answer questions, and explain what Hexforge Industries is all about. It was a great partnership, and we're incredibly grateful for the opportunity.

Showcasing Our Work

Our display focused primarily on our 3D printing capabilities, with visitors showing a great deal of interest in the range of custom projects we can produce.

Among the display pieces were a collection of custom Monopoly tokens alongside one of the biggest conversation starters of the weekend—a massive Tarrasque from Dungeons & Dragons. It certainly attracted attention and sparked plenty of discussions with fellow gamers and hobbyists.

Throughout the event we answered countless questions about the types of 3D printing services we offer, the materials we use, and what kinds of custom projects we can produce. It was encouraging to see such strong interest from both experienced hobbyists and people completely new to 3D printing.

Looking Towards Custom Fabrication

Alongside the interest in 3D printing, we also received enquiries about larger custom fabrication work.

While we're excited about expanding into this area, we're committed to delivering work to the highest standard possible. At this stage, our workshop isn't yet equipped for some of the larger fabrication projects people were asking about, so rather than over-promising, we've chosen to focus on continuing to build the workshop and equipment needed to support those services properly.

It's encouraging to know there is genuine demand, and it's something we're actively working towards.

A Successful First Event

The weekend was a success on several fronts.

We made sales, handed out a large number of business cards and flyers, and even received our first commission enquiry from the event. While nothing has been confirmed just yet, it's an exciting sign that people are interested in what Hexforge Industries has to offer.

The response we received reinforced that there is real demand for quality custom manufacturing, 3D printing, and hobby services in the region.

The Model Competition

One of the highlights of the entire weekend was undoubtedly the model competition.

The level of craftsmanship on display was incredible, with entries spanning military models, vehicles, aircraft, fantasy miniatures, dioramas, and much more. Seeing the amount of time, patience, and skill that competitors invested into their work was genuinely inspiring and reminded us why the modelling community is such a rewarding one to be part of.

Lessons for Next Time

Every first event is a learning experience, and we've already come away with plenty of ideas for future shows.

The biggest takeaway is to broaden our display range. There was significant interest in automotive and truck modelling, so next time we'll be bringing a larger selection of vehicle-related accessories, upgrade parts, and detail components. We're also planning to introduce a range of HO scale products to better cater to railway modellers and diorama builders.

As Hexforge Industries continues to grow, we'll also be expanding our range of terrain, gaming accessories, custom components, and display pieces.

Looking Ahead

The Dubbo Model Show may have been our first public event, but it certainly won't be our last.

We're already looking forward to attending more exhibitions, hobby shows, gaming events, and community gatherings as Hexforge Industries continues to expand its capabilities.
